2026 Asian Law and Society Association(ALSA) Conference
Annual Meeting for ALSA: December 4-6, 2026
Hosted by National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) School of Law, Taiwan
The 2026 Asian Law and Society Association Annual Conference, hosted by the School of Law at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), is scheduled to take place from December 4 to December 6, 2026, at the Guangfu Campus in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The event will commence with a Young Scholars and Graduate Student Workshop on December 4th, followed by the main conference sessions on December 5th and 6th.
Themed “Law in the Algorithmic Age: Governing Innovation, Rights, and Digital Societies in Asia-Pacific,” this conference seeks to delve into the intricate relationship between legal systems, social change, and the rapid advancement of digital technologies. As artificial intelligence and algorithmic decision-making increasingly reshape our daily lives, governance structures, and the legal profession itself, existing frameworks face unprecedented challenges regarding rights, trust, and social justice. This conference aims to examine these critical shifts, exploring how law and society can co-evolve to govern innovation while addressing issues such as the digital divide, algorithmic risk, and transnational data governance.
We cordially invite scholars from diverse disciplines—including law, sociology, criminology, public policy, and science, technology, and society (STS)—including both seasoned academics and emerging scholars, to submit abstracts. We welcome papers that investigate the profound influence of the algorithmic age on legal cultures, social institutions, and digital rights. This conference will serve as a premier platform for interdisciplinary dialogue, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange research findings and collaborate on shaping the future of legal and social governance in the Asia-Pacific region.
